The world is getting ready to accept the era of robots and Artificial Intelligence. One of the earliest and prominent developments has been the chatbots. This year the focus over chatbots have increased significantly, and the reason can be the announcement by Facebook and Microsoft over the release of their chatbots.

These are just announcements, whatsoever. But, there are chatbots used by some prime companies to serve specific purposes. 

'Do Not Pay' ChatBot

This was created by a Stanford University Student, Joshua Browder. He got his inspiration to create the bot when he was charged with parking tickets for 30 times while he was living in London. There have been above $2.5 million parking tickets shredded out on New York and London by the Chatbot.

So what does the Chatbot do? The chat box works like a virtual lawyer where you can question your parking ticket. The individual can place an appeal though the chatbot and challenge the ticket. More than 64% of the requests have been reported to have been successful. That's an estimated 1,60,000 times from the said 2,50,000 appeals.

It is free to use the chatbot to make a call and it works like your free lawyer. The bot contains some questions, and if the appeal is found to be genuine, it sends a message to the fine collecting department. The finding was welcomed widely by the people and Browder had stated to the media that there are plans to introduce the bot in Seattle. The use of this will be spread further on to make it easier for airline customers to request refund and even file flight delay compensations.

TacoBot to order Tacos

Microsoft exposed the idea of using a chatbot to order pizza in the 'BUILD' conference. It was displayed to order pizza from Domino's, but Taco Bell took up the idea and released 'Tacobot' in the United States which could take in tacos order through direct chat or by talking to the bot.

It is said to work like a personal Taco Bell Butler who works more or less like Siri cashiers found in restaurants. People are comfortable with app order placement services, and this one places it a step above with conversational ordering where you can get a personalized approach helping you place the order conveniently.

Earlier we had to talk in computer language to get our job done and with Artificial Intelligence it has made it possible for computers to speak in human language. The TacoBot has been created to work like a normal human being providing suggestions. It is currently available only in the Slack messenger system to companies like Giphy, Fullscreen and Thought Catalog.

Leslie ChatBot

The top projected use of a chat bot would be as a teacher even though there are not many of them currently. Leslie Linguo is an English teaching chatbot. It provides help with the English language for all kinds of people with text to speech conversion. It helps people of different languages to improve their oral and written English skills. Some argue that Leslie is not a chatbot but works as a virtual assistant. In the free version, it provides help only with English language synonyms, antonyms, word usages, definitions and much more. Only the registered version will allow the translation in other languages. It is an ESL chatbot and can talk not just English grammar but can converse about any topic. It makes it easier for people who are trying to learn English. The advantage with Leslie for English students is that, even in the presence of errors, Leslie will be able to understand the subject that the user is trying to convey.

Mitsuku Chatbot

Loneliness has been a major problem faced by people in the current generation. With the Mitsuku Chatbot, people can have a partner to provide company. Mitsuku is a female and is very soft spoken. She is always there to talk to you, and you never fall short of company. But like any other female, if you get into an argument, she would surely argue back to hold her ground. It won the prize for the best human-like chatbot in the year 2013 by Loebner. It was created by Steve Worswick in 2013 after working on it since 2005. She also plays games and provides proper logical answers.

Hello Barbie

There are several instances and productions of talk back toys, so the idea of a toy that talks back would not be something great. But the idea with Hello Barbie has been its ability to give a two-way interaction. Mattel even released 'Thomas & Friends Talk to You' along with ToyTalk. Hello Barbie was released in 2015 in New York and the product was met with a whole lot of negative criticisms. The biggest problem was the privacy invasion issue. This was because all the chats and voice conversations made with a ToyTalk Toy would be sent back to the primary servers to be stored for improvement and analysis.

The toy chatbot was specifically created to provide exact answers to the questions of the girls. A team of writers has worked together to bring together the possible questions that girls might ask to be fed into the chatbot. The Barbie also plays games with the children and thus maintaining a good rapport with the children. The chatbot stores all previous talks and recalls them in the further conversations. This is a major advantage of the Barbie chatbot as it makes it easier to converse with children.

There are chatbots in use like the WebMd application with pulls in information from the user and provides diagnosis and possible disease condition based on the reports and symptoms. Chatbot as a doctor is a good advantage as people can get medical advice and gain access to a vast information source at the fingertips. The idea of chatbots taking up all the main advisory areas, help sectors, Butler jobs, etc. have been considered to be a risk factor for some people. Users have highly commended the ease of access of these ChatBots.
